I did this knowing that senior Treasury officials were in the audience but without knowing that senior people from the ONS were also present. They were quite annoyed with me, as I discovered when we spoke afterwards, partly because of a misunderstanding: I meant our GDP data were the worst in the OECD, not our economic data in general.
